Guck Mal Globe

All PSP
groups wanting to use any of my tutorials as a
weekly lesson or activity, please see my
Terms
of Use.
To complete
this tutorial you will need
Kiwi's
Oelfilter
Unzip and install into
your plugins folder.
This
zip
file which contains the glass globe tube,
the 2 globe base tubes as seen on the examples above, and the
small white flare. Or you can use
any glass globe, base and flare you desire.
(none of the tubes
provided in this zip were made by me, I've had them for a very long time...
years...and have no idea who the original maker of them are. If any of these
tubes are yours
or you know who they were made by, please let me know so I can give proper
credit. Thanks!)
Harry's
Filters
(You only need this if
you want to colorize the white flare I have provided in the zip.)
Ok let's get started!
Step One.
Right click
on the image below and save to your hard drive
or right click on the image and choose "copy" and then in PSP
go to "edit, paste as new image." Or use the image of your
choice...
the image used really needs to have a center image, like in this image
I've provided, the flower is in the center.

(This image was received
through a graphic list....if you know who the photographer is
please let me know so I can give proper credit.)
With your
image open in PSP go to your layer palette and
right click on the background layer and choose "promote to layer."
Now with
your lasso tool, set point to point and feather 0, work
your way around the outsides of the yellow flowers like below.

Selections, invert.
Step Two.
Now
"effects, plug in filters, kiwis oelfilter, and choose the
"Guck mal" at it's default settings, click ok.
Repeat this as many times as your image requires, until it spread
to the edges of the image like below.

Deselect or "selections, select none."
Now you can
trim off some of the stuff at the top and bottom or leave
it as it is, it's up to you. If you trim, the flowers will show more prominently
in your globe without so much space at the top and the bottom.
So to trim some of that access off, use your crop tool
,
and surround the image
leaving just a bit of the green areas in the selection at the top and bottom but
going
all the way to both sides, double click on the image to make the crop. It should
look
something like below, only your image is deselected without the marching ants.

Step Three.
Effects, geometric effects, circle.

Image,
resize canvas...make your canvas width size the same size
as your image width, that doesn't need to be changed...but make
the height size 200 pixals bigger than your image's height. My image is
400(w) x 300(H) so I'm setting my new canvas like below
This gives
us more room to work on adding the globe base in
a few minutes.
Move your image up towards the top of your canvas.
Selections,
select all.
Selections, float.
Add a new layer.
Effects,
3-d effects, cutout with these settings,
vertical and horizontal both at 0
opacity at 100
Blur at 22.5
Color = Black
"fill interior" unchecked
Click ok.
Add another new layer.
Apply
another cut out, but change the
vertical and horizontal to (minus)1 and the blur to 40.
Do not deselect!

Step 4.
Add a new layer.
Click on the glassglobeclear.tub and then "edit, copy".
Now go back to your round flower image and "edit, paste, into selection."

Deselect.
You can
leave the opacity on this layer as it if you prefer, I turned it down
to 80 on mine.
Layers, merge, merge visible.
Step 5.
Click on the globe base tub you are going to be using.
Go to "edit, copy"
Activate
you round globe image again and go to
"edit, paste as new layer."
Use the
deformation tool,
to make the base fit nice and snug onto
your globe, for mine I had to push the sides in. Below I already pushed in
the left side to fit, but have not pushed the right side in yet. Double click
on your image to apply the deformation when you have the base fit to your
liking.

Step 6.
Add a new layer.
Click on your flare tube and go to "edit, copy"
Click on your globe image and go to "edit, paste, as new selection."
Place the flare on your globe where you want it.
"Edit,
copy, edit, paste, as new selection" again, and as many times
as you want until you have applied all the flares on your globe you want.
Now, if you
used the small white flare I provided in the zip you may
want to colorize the flare to match the flowers in your globe. If so
continue on with the tutorial. If not, your globe is complete, just go to
"layers, merge, merge visible", then "edit, copy, edit paste as
new image"
to get rid of all the access space, and save it as a .psp or .tub file so you
can
add any type of background you want at anytime!
To colorize
your flares.....
On your flare layer, go to "selections, select all", and
"selections, float".
Now go to
"effects, plug ins', Harry's filters," and move the color sliders
around until you have the color you want. Now merge visible layers,
"edit copy, edit paste as new image" to get rid of the access space,
and save as a .psp or .tub file so you can add any type of background
you want at anytime!
I hope you
have enjoyed this tutorial!
If you have any questions don't hesitate to
ask
them!
